a day of fun

apples-before

My husband and I decided to spend our Saturday exploring Lake Perry near Lawrence, Kansas. We had been there once before but only saw a fraction of it. I brought my camera and a book. He brought 3 apples, some carving tools, and a sketch book. Yes, we are an usual pair. We enjoy our time together but are independent enough to stay busy with our interests. The only thing we forgot was the sunscreen!

apples-after

We did find a wonderful cove to spend a few hours creating, reading, and eating. There happened to be a group that brought their catamaran sailboats. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them get ready for a day of sailing. The sights and sounds were so relaxing. I can't wait to go back.

It does look like a day of fun. Your husband's apple carvings are cute. How does he resist taking a big bite while carving?

Wow, those apples are amazing! I assume you'll be doing similar for Halloween. That would be perfect! Great write-up and I love the sails photograph too!

Cat...thanks for the lovely day...enjoyed getting all "farmers tanned" together.

Everyone...thanks for the nice comments on the apple carvings! And Bonnie...the only way I could resist biting the apples was that they tasted awful! Very bitter...but great for carving.
