Park Place Gallery ~ Photography Show

Wind on Water

I am one of 26 local and national photographers represented at the Park Place Gallery 2nd annual Photography Show. I was lucky enough to have participated last year as well. These are two of the six pieces that I will be showing. I plan on attending the Friday session and if you are in town, I'd love to see you.

a day of fun

apples-before

My husband and I decided to spend our Saturday exploring Lake Perry near Lawrence, Kansas. We had been there once before but only saw a fraction of it. I brought my camera and a book. He brought 3 apples, some carving tools, and a sketch book. Yes, we are an usual pair. We enjoy our time together but are independent enough to stay busy with our interests. The only thing we forgot was the sunscreen!

apples-after

We did find a wonderful cove to spend a few hours creating, reading, and eating. There happened to be a group that brought their catamaran sailboats. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them get ready for a day of sailing. The sights and sounds were so relaxing. I can't wait to go back.

POE

The Plaza

I am part of a team on Etsy called Photographers of Etsy, or POE for short. I was checking out their New Works feature and as I scrolled down the page, I saw my photo. What a fun surprise! Here is their link.

I took this photo from the top of the Hall's building on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. I just finished shooting at a local garden and while I was driving home, the sunset turned out to be gorgeous. Many of my favorite images are not the ones I originally go out to shoot. That is the part of photography that feels like a treasure hunt. I never know what is waiting for me around the corner!

Here are a few quick shots that I took last week at the arboretum. I had a hard time pulling myself away from the Monet Garden. Can't wait to go back.

A fellow photographer and Etsy friend has a new weekly feature on her blog called "Photo of the Week". This photo of mine is one of the images featured.

Here is a link to her blog, Jessica Rogers Photography. Thanks, Jessica!

a day at the lake

dragonfly wings

My husband and I discovered Hillsdale Lake today. It is only 20 minutes from our home. I love water and plan on going back to spend more time reading and relaxing. Here are a few shots from the day. It was only in the 70's, which is very unusual for an August day in Kansas. I was counting my blessings!
